Locmariaquer and Port Navalo, navigable by road or by sea.
Vannes: Medieval town at
the head of the Golfe. Market Wednesday and Saturday morning.
Auray: Picturesque old
Port St Goustan. Market Monday morning.
Carnac: seaside resort
with alignments of standing stones or menhirs. Market Sunday
morning.
Quiberon: narrow stretch
of land between two expanses of water, one side mild and the other
wild.
Lorient: large
town for shopping, visit the fish markets and the Port du
Plaisance. Famous for the Celtic music festival in August.
Baud:
Cartopole museum with over 20,000 postcards.
Melrand:
'the village of the year 1000', showing aspects of local village
life 1000 years ago.
Quistinic:
Poul Fetan, 'truly old-fashioned farming village' with afternoon
activities demonstrating butter-making, spinning of wool,
thatching, cows milked by hand and more.
Hennebont:
on the river Blavet. Ramparts, Botanic Park, National Stud (Haras),
medieval fete Saturday/Sunday 26th & 27th July 2008. Large market Thursday
morning.
Josselin:
Several half-timber frame houses, chateau (castle) alongside the
Nantes-Brest canal.
Pontivy:
the Nantes to Brest canal runs through this large town. The
medieval part has narrow, windy streets. Market Monday morning.
